POLYHEDRON Special Issue
ICMM 2010 Conference Proceedings
The Conference is sponsored by Elsevier and its results will be published in a 2011 special issue of Polyhedron. Papers will be considered for all talks and posters. All papers must be submitted ONLINE. See the instructions below.NEW SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Beginning with ICMM 2010, manuscripts will no longer be accepted as hardcopies at the conference. All manuscripts must be submitted ONLINE, in the same way as normal papers, using the EES (Elsevier Editorial System) website. Follow the procedure below.
- Manuscripts can be submitted online to the Editor, Prof. George Christou, at http://ees.elsevier.com/poly. If you have never submitted to Polyhedron before, you must first register to establish a username and password.
- If your manuscript contains one or more crystal structures,
you must first deposit the CIFs at the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC).
Follow the procedure described at
http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/products/csd/deposit/.
Add the deposition codes you will receive from the CCDC in a “Supplementary data” paragraph at the end
of the manuscript text, after the “Acknowledgements” paragraph. Use the following wording:
Supplementary data
CCDC XXXXX contains the supplementary crystallographic data for this paper. These data can be obtained free of charge via http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/conts/retrieving.html, or from the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, 12 Union Road, Cambridge CB2 1EZ, UK; fax: (+44) 1223-336-033; or e-mail: deposit@ccdc.cam.ac.uk. - For the “Article Type” question on the first step of the submission process, choose “ICMM 2010 Special Issue”.
- On the “Request an Editor” page, you must choose G. Christou.
- The manuscript should include a Graphical Abstract (a few lines of text and a clear figure). Ensure that the figure retains its clarity when its size is decreased to that of the Table of Contents.
- In your cover letter, indicate that the paper is for the ICMM 2010 special issue. If you wish, provide 3-4 names (with email addresses) of people you believe would be particularly suitable to referee the manuscript.
- Manuscripts can be submitted any time from September 15, 2010 to November 15th. This will be a strict deadline in order to allow publication of the proceedings as quickly as possible.
- If you require additional help with the submission process, online tutorials are available. See http://epsupport.elsevier.com/itutorials
MANUSCRIPT TYPES AND PREPARATION
There will be two types of papers: shorter ones of length 4-5 printed pages
(Communications), and longer ones of length 6-12 printed pages (Full Paper). As a
general guide, papers based on posters and contributed talks could be of either length,
but papers based on invited talks should be of the longer variety, either as original full
papers or short reviews. For Instructions to Authors, see the journal website at
http://ees.elsevier.com/poly/.
See also published issues of the journal, such as the ICMM 2010 special issue below.
The Special Issue “Proceedings
of the 11th International Conference on Molecule-based Magnets (ICMM 2008)”
can be found at Polyhedron,
2009, Volume 28, Issues 9- 10, pages 1595-2096.
It is important that you ensure that your manuscript is prepared
according to Polyhedron
format for references, figure captions, tables, etc. Make sure the figure
labels are large enough to still be clear when the figure is reduced
(e.g. atom labels of structures).
Before the submitted manuscript is forwarded to the Editor, it is checked by Elsevier
website personnel for completeness of necessary information (author addresses,
contact emails, etc) and adherence to the required format. If it is found to require
changes, it will be returned to the authors for corrections before it can be sent to the
Editor for refereeing.
Authors of shorter papers containing original work in previous ICMM Proceedings have
also later published full papers of this work. If you plan to do this, you should ensure
that your manuscript is written in Communication
style. There are cases where referees
of subsequent full papers have recommended rejection of the paper because the
material had already been published in the ICMM Proceedings.
